Contents page

I have created a contents page for my magazine using Indesign. I have made subheadings which are colour coded and then listed the page numbers underneath them, this makes it clearer for the reader. I have also picked out images within my magazine which I think might intrest the reader and placed them on the contents page. The reader can then easily find what intrests them as i have also written page numbers with the images.

Front cover

I have created the front cover for my college magazine. I have used a large image to cover most of the page as this makes it more eye-catching. I have chosen a blue colour scheme as the decoration in the college is blue so this creates a connection with the college and the magazine. I have used text boxes with short sentences inside telling the reader what they may find inside the magazine, this can make them more inclined to read it. I have made the key words such as, 'sport' and 'parties' in larger, bolder font to attract the audiences attention. The title is in large font and is also in a darker colour than the background it is on to make it stand out.

Front cover photo

I have taken a photo with a digital camera, this will appear on the front cover of my magazine. I chose to take a photo of a student at Sussex Downs College as this will appeal to my target audience which is students at the college. I took a shot inside the college which reflects college life. I have used a head and shoulder shot of the student and captured him smiling as i wanted to create a positive attitude towards college and make students want to read the magazine.

Flat Plans

I have created two flat plans for my student magazine. One is for the front cover and the other is for the contents page. For my front cover i wanted to make a clear space for the magazine title, 'SDC' so that it stands out. I then wanted a large image of a student at Sussex Downs College to fill most of the front cover so that it will add more colour and look like more of an easy relaxing read rather than having too much text which may put students off. I have added text boxes with key topics that will feature in the magazine to inform the reader of what the magazine is about.
